Digitisation
Digitisation is the process of creating digital images of the objects in your collections, usually in the form of scans or digital photographs, and is one of the most time-consuming Collections Management tasks, particularly for collections that include many large or 3D objects.
Advantages of Digitisation:
- Identifying your objects for insurance purposes, or as proof of ownership.
- Recording the condition of an object, enabling you to spot deterioration early so it can be addressed before too much damage is done.
- Reducing the need to handle the physical object, so helping preserve it for the future.
- Illustrations for guidebooks, exhibitions, or hand-outs for school groups.
- Printing on postcards, posters and other merchandise to sell in your museum shop or online, as well as for brochures and other promotional materials.
- Using on your website, including for online exhibitions.
- Selling digital images to a world-wide audience via your website.
- Attaching images to your catalogue records.
Our services include:
- Providing our own specialist equipment, such as digital photography equipment and studios, and large size scanners.
